The 2025–26 Visiting Writers Series at Hartwick College

With the departure of my amazing colleague Tessa Yang, and as I am on sabbatical this fall, no events will be held in the fall for the 2025–26 Visiting Writers Series at Hartwick College. The series will return in spring 2026 with the events below. Readings take place at 7:00 in the Eaton Lounge, Bresee Hall at Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York.

James Tadd Adcox will be reading, including from his newest book Denmark Variations (Hem Press, 2023), on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

The 2024–25 Visiting Writers Series at Hartwick College

In addition to this year’s Oneonta Literary Festival, at which Rachel Blau DuPlessis, Ross Gay, Anna Kornbluh, and many others will be speaking, the Hartwick College and the Department of Literature, Media, and Writing will present three readings in the 2024–25 Visiting Writers Series. Readings take place at 7:00 in the Eaton Lounge, Bresee Hall at Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York.

I will be reading on Wednesday, September 24, 2024 from my new book, 2013–2017: Sonnets (LJMcD Communications, 2024).

Libby Cudmore will be reading from her new book, Negative Girl (Datura, 2024), on Wednesday, November 13, 2024.

And Amish Trivedi will be reading, including from his newest book FuturePanic (Co•Im•Press, 2021), on Thursday, April 10, 2025.

The 2023–24 Visiting Writers Series at Hartwick College

This year, Hartwick College and the Department of Literature, Media, and Writing will present four readings in the 2023–24 Visiting Writers Series. Readings take place at 7:00 in the Eaton Lounge, Bresee Hall at Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York.

Novelist and essayist Shena McAuliffe will read on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 from her new book of short stories, We Are a Teeming Wilderness: Stories (Press 53, 2023).

Poet and emeritus Hartwick professor Robert Bensen will read from his new book, What Lightning Spoke: New and Selected Poems (Bright Hill, 2023), on Wednesday, November 8, 20223.

Yumei Kitasei will read from her new novel, The Deep Sky (Flatiron Books, 2023), on Monday, March 4, 2024.

And poet essayist Joshua Zelesnick will read from his forthcoming poetry collection, Insert Coin (Finishing Line Press, forthcoming 2025), on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

The 2022–23 Visiting Writers Series at Hartwick College

This year, Hartwick College and the Department of Literature, Media, and Writing will present four readings in the 2022–23 Visiting Writers Series. Readings take place at 7:00 or 7:30 p.m. in Eaton Lounge, Bresee Hall at Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York.

All campus visitors, including attendees at campus-based public events, must have up to date vaccinations for COVID-19. The College reserves the right to require masks on an event-by-event basis.

Poet Raena Shirali will read on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 7:30 p.m., including from her new book summonings (Black Lawrence, forthcoming 2022).

Fiction writer Tessa Yang will read from her brand new collection, The Runaway Restaurant (7.13, forthcoming October 2022) on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.

Fiction writer, poet, and game designer Julian K. Jarboe will read from their work on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.

And poet and nonfiction writer Sten Carlson will read from his work on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.

The Visiting Writers Series at Hartwick College, Spring 2022

This spring, Hartwick College and the Department of English will present the last two readings of the 2021-22 Visiting Writers Series.  All readings take place at 7 p.m. in Eaton Lounge, Bresee Hall at Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York.

Admission to the readings is free and the events are open to the public. Attendees and all campus visitors must be vaccinated for COVID-19 and will be required to provide either their vaccination card or the New York State Excelsior Pass. Any visitor requiring an exception to this requirement must complete this form and receive prior approval from the College. Masks are required in all College buildings.

Krys Malcolm Belc will read on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.

Michael Peters will read on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

This fall, Hartwick College and the Department of English will present the first four readings of the 2019-20 Visiting Writers Series.  All readings take place at 7 p.m. in Eaton Lounge, Bresee Hall at Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York. Admission is free of charge and the public is invited.

New Hartwick faculty member, assistant professor of English Tessa Yang, will read on Wednesday, October 2, 2019.

George Hovis will read on Wednesday, October 16, 2019.

Lauren Russell will read on Thursday, November 7, 2019.

And Alice Lichtenstein will read from her forthcoming novel, The Crime of Being, on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.
